We are Joyce and Paul Lee. We’re
baby boomers who are looking to retire in a couple years, or should I say retire “again” in a couple years.
Joyce is retired on disability, and enjoys reading, cooking, doing her crafts,
knitting, weaving, painting and being with family and friends.
Paul
retired once from a position with a state agency and went right back to work again in the corporate world. He
hopes to retire “to the farm” in a couple years. That, actually, is what got us into the alpaca
business.
After we built our "retirement home" on
this 20 acre track, Paul had always said that he wanted to put livestock on the place by the time he retired.
Having grown up on a dairy and beef cattle farm, we always assumed he was talking about cattle; and he did
too, until one Thanksgiving eve a couple years ago, he saw the commercial “ I Love Alpacas “ He
started looking on the internet for anything he could find about these interesting little critters, and well, to make a long
story short, here we are today—and WE LOVE IT!
We
purchased our first two alpacas, both pregnant females, in June of 2006. That’s when we started working
on the place so that we could get our “herd” home. After clearing and grading the land, seeding,
erecting fences, gates, and a small barn, our two girls and their little ones were delivered to our place in January 2007.
We now have ten, and joyfully, that number continues to grow.
Our
goal is to raise top quality alpacas, with gentle personalities, quality confirmation and the softest, finest fiber you’ve
ever put your hands on.
Give us a call, and come visit ~ we’d love
to show you around, offer you a cup of coffee or a glass of tea, and sit around and talk “alpaca” for a while.
